What is solar energy?

Solar energy is a technology that transforms the sun’s rays into energy and electricity for consumption just like regular fossil fuelled electricity. It is a renewable resource – meaning there is an infinite supply of solar power and it does not require any harm to the earth once initial infrastructure is installed.

How do solar PV cells work?

Solar photovoltaic (PV) cells is what makes up a solar array or solar panel installation. Solar PV cells are made of semiconductor material (usually silicon) which creates the movement of electrons when exposed to sunlight. This energy is then able to be transformed into energy.

Why is solar power better than fossil fuel power?

Solar energy is a renewable resource, this means it is superior to fossil fuel and finite resources for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is better for the environment as it does not require significant change to the earth’s surface and does not emit damaging greenhouse gases. Secondly, it is a more economically viable and stable investment as the resource of sunlight is much more consistent and predictable than resources such as coal, natural gas and oil. How much will I save on my electricity bill if I install solar?

There are a number of ways you can financially benefit from solar power.
