2013 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge

With more teams, more countries, more innovation and more rivalry, the stage is set for a total eclipse of past events. Under the eyes of the world media and with World Solar Challenge discussions in overdrive, we are experiencing an unprecedented level of interest this year.

The past few weeks have seen a flurry of activity with teams arriving in Australia, collecting their cars and making their way to Adelaide and Darwin, some advance teams have begun testing their cars in Australian conditions.

What’s on where for the 2013 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

  • Hidden Valley, Darwin is open for Team Registration and we havee had a record number of early registrations in 2013
  • Static Scrutineering commences at Foskey Pavilion, Darwin Showgrounds, Tuesday 1 – Friday 4 October from 8.00am – 4.00pm
  • New look Bridgestone World Solar Challenge website goes online from Tuesday 1 October presenting live event news and updates, live timing, a tracking feature, and WSC TV video highlights
  • Book a test drive in one of the latest in low emission vehicles on the Clean Drive section of the website today for Hindmarsh Square Adelaide from Thursday 10 October
  • Dynamic Scrutineering Saturday 5 October at Hidden Valley Motor Sport Park from 7.30am – 12.30pm
  • Official Start, State Square Darwin, teams will arrive from 6.00am, cars depart from 8.15am
  • Follow the teams down the Stuart Highway, through the 10 control points, on the online tracker on our website
  • Official City of Adelaide Finish Line, Hindmarsh Square/Mukata from Thursday 10 Oct to Sunday 13 Oct from 9.00am-4.00pm. Teams will be proudly presented to the public so bring your national flags to support your favourite team.
  • Fork On the Road Festival, Hindmarsh Square/Mukata, Sunday 13 October from 12 noon, celebrating cultural diversity with a fabulous feast. Adelaide City Council will have free City bikes available
  • World first Street Parade of solar vehicles, Sunday 13 October from 2pm, check the parade route through the streets of Adelaide on the website
