Solar Guru Highlights Importance of Solar Cell Technology

Expert Martin Green of the University of New South Wales says “Australia needs to look to Germany if it is to realise the potential of solar cell technology.

To day, being honoured by Australians, Green has been made a Member of the Order of Australia for his research and work on photovoltaics and solar cell technology.

Greens says, “Germany has been the only country that’s had a sensible long-term program in place to promote the use of renewables.”

Although some still argue that solar cell technology is not a competitive option in the fight to reduce carbon emissions, the proven solar cell technology has reached new heights and is ready for the Australian Government to kick start a new phase in the program.  Green says. “the starts are aligning for conventional roof mounted solar.”  My question is though, whats around the corner with this ground breaking solar cell technology.

The Author

I developed an interest in the Australian energy and construction sectors more than a decade ago and have since closely followed the trends, technologies and developments shaping both industries. My involvement in the Australian solar market began in 2008, and over the years I have built strong connections with professionals, businesses and organisations across the construction, solar and renewable energy sectors in Australia and internationally. These connections include solar panel and inverter manufacturers, electrical and construction industry professionals, software developers creating tools to quote, monitor and manage solar power systems, and media organisations that closely follow developments across energy, construction and renewable technologies. Today, I continue to contribute as an industry advocate, author and commentator, sharing practical insights and information to help Australian consumers and businesses better understand solar power, energy technologies, construction-related developments and the changing Australian energy landscape.
