Solar powered tent – providing energy outdoors

Would it be wonderful if you could use a tent that can provide you heat while you’re sleeping during the cold winter nights? There is now such a tent that you can use – it’s called the solar powered tent.

Solar powered tents were originally designed for festival goers. These events are held in open areas, lasting for a number of days or weeks. This is the reason why these tents are designed to house from four to six or more people. Living in the outdoors without electricity for a number of days will be quite challenging and irritating to some. This is the reason why these solar powered tents are very useful and functional.

This tent is very useful for off grid campers because aside from providing heat and light on cold nights, it can also power mobile devices. A typical tent of this type can comfortably accommodate four people.

The solar powered tent

The solar powered tent is equipped with its own solar panel array installed at its roof. There are LED lights and optional heating elements that are integrated inside the structure and fabric of the tent. You need to get at least four to six hours of direct sunlight in order for the tent to generate enough solar power to provide you two to four hours of light.

A typical solar powered tent of has a standard 7 inch (18 cm) solar panel that is installed at the top of the tent’s hub. The fly is situated on top of the solar panel where the sun can charge the panel via the clear PVC window installed at the top of the fly. The standard solar powered tent tent can accommodate four people, but there are bigger tents that can house six off grid campers.

One of the great things about this type of tent is the dramatic improvement it will give to your comfort at night. Battery powered flashlights are good until they get lost among all your other gears or along the trail. If not lost, their batteries’ run-time ebbs until their power runs out. But with this tent, you will always have your lights on every night that you are outdoors. And you don’t need to carry heavy batteries too.

There are several advantages to the solar powered tent:

  1. The solar panels can be moved around during the day to ensure they get the most power radiated by the sun rays.
  2. The tent will automatically heat up when the inside air reaches a certain temperature. That means you will always get a comfortable temperature inside the tent.
  3. You can use the tent to power your laptop or charge your mobile devices.
  4. The solar panels are woven directly to the fabric of the tent so that you will never lose them, even while transferring the tent from place to place.
