Brisbane Retiree’s Convoy Behind 100kW of Solar

A 100 kW solar photovoltaic installation was recently commissioned to sit atop a new four-storey retirement building near the city centre of Brisbane.

Gold Coast Energy will install the system, operate it and help monitor the systems daily output.

Greg Wilson from Gold Coast Energy told Solar Australia  that working with Energex had been a learning experience, and many factors were involved in commissioning a system of this size in Brisbane.

“What has been a bonus is that the inverters are peaking at over 11 kW and have been generating over 99 kW at any instant, which is testament to the quality materials installed,” Mr Wilson said.

The Gold Coast Energy system features 400 Conergy 250M Power Plus panels and nine SMA 11000TL inverters which are linked to a Sunny Web Box system.

A Conergy Suntop III has been used to mount the solar system and KlipKlamps were used to limit roof penetrations.
