SOLAR PANEL REBATES TO BE SLASHED IN 2013

From July 1st next year the Gillard government will slash cash solar panel rebates and subsidies by half, however don’t expect to see the money straight away.

The event is traditionally used by solar companies as a marketing tool for sales, however with more Aussies going solar than ever before this will not be a hard push.

The cost of solar panel installation has been falling dramatically in recent years making it more affordable for Australian families, despite a decline in state feed-in tariffs.

Rod Sims, chairman of the ACCC and a solar panel critic told The Sunday Telegraph yesterday says many families are still scared of going solar and should not be.

“The original solar power subsidies were simply obscene and people are paying for it now in their electricity prices.”

However new customers should not expect money back in their pockets quickly as current applicants are already waiting up to 12 months for reimbursement.
